Background –
Martinez transitioned into the
cabling industry in 1987 during his tenure with a major insurance
company in San Antonio, TX. The story goes something like this… There
was a stack of more than six modems (they were quite large in those
days) that was supported by a 2x4 and a small piece of plywood. These
modems tilted off of the plywood onto Martinez leg. This occurred as he
and a co-worker were attempting to locate a cable that originated at an
IBM 3705, Front End Processor. It was this point when Martinez and the
co-worker determined it was time to get into the cabling business and
clean up the computer room cabling.
Prior to that, Martinez was a field
service technician for Xerox, 3M, and USAA. Martinez served in the US
Army for six years. During his time in the military he served as an
armor crewman, a meteorological equipment repairman, and a
meteorological observer.
